  • Fairfax Digital acquires The Weather Company

    Fairfax Digital has acquired a 75% stake in The Weather Company - the owner of popular Australian weather site weatherzone.com.au.

    The Weather Company's founder Mark Hardy holds the remaining 25% share and is being retained in the role of Managing Director.

    Isn't one of TWC's clients are News Corporation? (The Australian?)
    I wonder how Fairfax's purchase will affect service to News Corp....

    I believe so. TWC has a large number of clients using their services - which includes a number of media companies.

    I believe the weather graphics and scripts on Prime and GWN are designed and written by TWC. Same goes for some other weather broadcasts across the country.

    Shouldn't matter too much. TWC will still be offering the same services so there should be no issue.

    I have been a paying subscriber of WeatherZone for many years and I believe this purchase will only make things better :)
