• Nominations open for Media Peace Awards 2008

  The United Nations Association of Australia have announced that nominations are now open for the Association's 30th annual Media Peace Awards.
  
  Since 1979 the Association has recognised outstanding efforts by those in the media to highlight social justice and humanitarian issues, raise awareness within the Australian community and stimulate public debate.
  
  The 2008 Awards program provides the perfect opportunity to honour outstanding media pieces from the last 12 months, and the 30th anniversary allows us all to reflect on those extraordinary pieces of journalism that have championed human rights and equality over the past three decades.
  
  Nominations for 2008 are now open in the following categories:

  [*]Best Television (News, Current Affairs, Feature / Documentary
  [*]Best Online

  Special Award Categories

  [*]Victorian Multicultural Commission / Australian Multicultural Foundation Promotion of Multicultural Issues
  [*]Office of Senior Victorians Promotion of Positive Images of the Older Person
  [*]Office for Children and Early Childhood Development Increasing Awareness of Understanding of Children's Rights and Issues

  If you have written, published, directed, produced or broadcast a piece of work about social justice or humanitarian issues between September 1 2007 and September 17 2008, or if you have seen something worthy of nomination, then this is your opportunity to nominate for the 30th annual Media Peace Awards.
  
  Nominations close at 5pm AEST on Wednesday September 17 2008.
  
  An invitation has also been offered to anyone who wishes to be at the Awards Presentation Dinner on Friday October 24 2008 at the ANZ Pavilion at the Arts Centre in Melbourne.
