In what can only be described as another blow for Seven News Perth, popular reporter and fill in presenter Mark Gibson has announced that he has resigned after seven years of reporting for the state's highest rating news bulletin.
The West Australian says that Gibson confirmed the news yesterday and will now discuss his departure date with news director Shaun Menegola.
Gibson says he had been approached several months ago about joining Channel Nine Perth's new local A Current Affair to be launched soon, but says he did not take the job at the time and was considering his options.
He has refused to confirm or deny whether he would take up a position on the new ACA.
After seven years with Channel Seven, Gibson says he needs a break.
"It is time for a change, nothing too exciting" he told The West Australian.
Gibson has been in many on-air roles at Seven Perth including filling in as presenter for news, sport and weather when required on Seven News.
He previously worked for Network Ten in Sydney before moving to Perth to join Channel Seven.

People fed up with the standards of Seven News?
Something tells me that Seven either treat their staff like crap or what you said, they're unhappy with the product and/or environment.
I can't imagine WIN paying well based on how cheap they are so I doubt it's about money.
