  • Coren looking to leave Today Tonight

    Anna Coren, the presenter of the east coast edition of Today Tonight, is reportedly looking to leave Seven to work with American news channel CNN.

    The recent Mercedes Corby defamation case, which cost the Seven Network $5 million, and other high profile events are believed to have created tension at Seven with reports suggesting both Coren and Seven are unimpressed with each other.

    Although TT is TT, and any presenter doing it knows that their rep is gonna be ruined...

    First Naomi, now (probably) Anna, who's next in the queue to be mocked and pilloried?

    Could one say the Chaser boys have struck again? :P. They certainly contributed to the reputation TT and ACA and their hosts now have.

    You could see Coren's career at 7 was going downhill once she took the TT job, but she certainly didn't help herself with her silly segues and other nonsense. When she took the job, she said she wanted to improve TT and put a more serious focus on the show. In truth, TT has probably gone even more downhill since Coren took over.

    It is strange. I too thought she used to do a good job filling in over summer.

    I think she changed as a host when she took over full-time though, and she's not the same as she used to be. I've got videos of her presenting 7News in 2004 (all on tape... I must digitise those soon) and she seems a bit different now compared to then IMO, and now I don't like her as much as I used to.

    Never really had a problem with Anna Coren myself,
    but I do think the show itself has gone downhill in "nasty factor" terms over time.
