I would like to hope they bought HD capable equipment considering SD is going the way of the dinosaur.

Common sense would suggest everything would be HD-ready (or close to it) now. They are crazy if they bought SD-only equipment :helpsmilie:

Will be interesting to see how long it takes for Sky News to broadcast in HD. Most news in Australia is still SD though so I don't see Sky News jumping on board with HD just yet.

It's about time, finally Sky News in widescreen! :)

Although, would there be a re-launch (graphics wise) to collide with the introduction of widescreen broadcasting?

Depends on whether the last round of graphics were widescreen-ready. It is possible they could launch without a single graphics change if they did it right last time, but we'll have to wait and see whether that was the case or not.

That said, they may choose to launch new graphics as well if they want to make a big deal about the AR change :)

God, I hope! If the current ticker is going to be transitioned to 16:9, it's going to look crap!

They need to utilize the space 16:9 offers with the ticker....

According to Knowfirst, this has been delayed until at least May 17th. It's obviously taking them some time to get everything organised.

It won't be - Sky News UK's international feed is 4:3.
