    Rebecca Gibney wins Gold at 51st Logie Awards
    Rebecca Gibney, star of the Seven Network drama series Packed To The Rafters, has taken out the Gold Logie at the 51st annual TV Week Logie Awards held at the Crown Entertainment Complex.

    It was a night dominated by the Packed To The Rafters family with Gibney also winning the Logie for Most Popular Actress. Jessica Marais was awarded Most Popular New Female Talent and the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Outstanding New Talent. Hugh Sheridan was voted Most Popular New Male Talent and the program itself was awarded the Logie for Most Popular Drama.

    The Nine Network's Underbelly was also a strong performer winning the award for Most Outstanding Drama Series, Miniseries or Telemovie. Gyton Grantley won the award for Most Outstanding Actor, and Kat Stewart Most Outstanding Actress, for their roles in the Underbelly series.

    Network Ten dominated the general entertainment categories with Rove McManus taking home awards for Most Popular Presenter and Most Popular Light Entertainment Program for his self-named program 'Rove', while Ten's H20 Just Add Water won Most Outstanding Children's Program, Bondi Rescue won the award for Most Popular Factual Program and Most Popular Reality Program went to So You Think You Can Dance.

    ABC TV again showed its strength in news and current affairs winning awards for Most Outstanding News Coverage and Most Outstanding Public Affairs Report for its Foreign Correspondent story "Afghanistan: A Survivor's Tale".

    In Sport the Seven Network was awarded the Logie for Most Outstanding Sports Coverage for its broadcast of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The Nine Network’s NRL Footy Show won the award for Most Popular Sports Program despite a ratings decline in recent years.

    Bill Collins was inducted into the Logie Hall of Fame.
