In a summer of worst-kept secrets in the Australian media industry, Monique Wright has been confirmed as the Sunrise weather presenter.
Replacing Grant Denyer, Wright has been at Seven since 1996 and part of the program since its revamped format that saw it rise to be the highest rating show in its timeslot.
As the roving reporter and a fill-in newsreader, Wright has travelled extensively, a job which will be furthered.
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel around this wonderful country we live in, meeting people in places our viewers may not ever get to. It’s going to be a huge challenge but so much fun.”
The Weather Wagon, returning as the Sunrise Blend 43 Weather Winnebago, will take Monique throughout the nation to a different location each morning.
A new aesthetic for Sunrise, including a set and graphics overhaul is expected for January 29, along with Wright’s debut in her new role.
