• A new four-part series to air on Al Jazeera English

  Al Jazeera English has announced a new four-part series, Children of Conflict, presented by Nadene Ghouri, that explores the lives of children around the world whose lives are blighted by growing up in conflict zones.
  
  Ghouri will go in search of what the past has created, and what the future holds for these young people. She will travel to Gaza, Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Lebanon where she meets children growing up in an environment of frequent violence and constant economic depression.
  
  Children of Conflict is broadcast from Doha at 6:30am (GMT) on the below dates and each programme will be repeated for a week*.   The series will include:
  
  Gaza (12th February)
  In an exclusive story, Al Jazeera English will talk to the grandchildren of Fatima Al Najar, the oldest female Palestinian suicide bomber, a thirteen year old girl with dreams of being a journalist, and ten year girl who wants to be the first female Palestinian president.
  
  Lebanon (19th February)
  This series goes back to the survivors – now teenagers - of the Qana massacre in 1996 when Israel bombed a UN base sheltering 800 people – most of them children – and documents their incredible stories.
  
  Afghanistan (26th February)
  A land of seemingly endless wars, Afghanistan has endured almost 30 years of conflict. This series will focus on the majority of today's children born in Afghanistan into suffering and misery, battling daily to keep hunger at bay and to keep warm.
  
  Congo (1st March)
  The final in the four part series will go inside the minds of the Congolese child soldier. The feared child militias of The DRC will tell how their childhood was lost, and they became murderers and rapists in a 'kill or be killed' conflict.
