Seven's highly promoted new show Ugly Betty has exceeded expectations with more than 2 million Australians tuning in for the show's premiere last night. Betty was the highest rating show of the night, a result that Seven should be very happy with.
This was followed by the new season premiere of Grey's Anatomy with 1.7 million viewers, the launch of Australia's Got Talent with 1.6 million and Seven News with 1.4 million.
The Nine Network will no doubt be unhappy with the results, with 60 Minutes failing to make much of an impact. The show's executive producer reportedly came out last week saying that his show could be in for a tough time. If Betty is able to sustain her large audience over the coming weeks, then 60 Minutes could find themselves with quite a large problem to deal with.
The news wasn't all bad for Nine however, with viewers switching over at 9:30pm to watch CSI which always performs well for Nine. That went head to head with the launch of Seven's new show What About Brian which failed to impress, with less than a million viewers tuning in.
