PBL Media, the recently formed joint venture between PBL and CVC, has struck an agreement with Sunraysia Television Ltd for the purchase of its wholly owned subsidiary Swan Television and Radio Broadcasters, the operator of STW-9 (Channel Nine Perth).
PBL Media will pay $136,360,000 to Sunraysia in exchange for all its shares in the company, with a shareholder meeting expected to be held in late March/early April to approve the sale. Sunraysia is majority owned by Eva Presser while regional TV network WIN has a significant holding in the company.
Speaking on the sale Sunraysia chairman Eva Presser said "Putting Swan TV together with Nine Network will provide improved programming for our viewers, improved ratings for our advertisers and operating benefits for the business, In today's new media landscape, one needs the critical mass to meet the demands of a highly competitive local and national media market. The Nine Network can provide this whereas a standalone independent can not.''
