David Koch has hit back at claims by Today show host Richard Wilkins that Today is is of a more 'superior' quality than the top rating rival breakfast programme, Sunrise. Koch tells TV Guide that television viewers want three things in the morning.
" ... the news, something to talk about at work or school, and to smile", says the breakfast show host.
Koch also dismisses comments that the show dumbs down its news content. Melissa Doyle agrees.
"We cover the issues everybody else does, but we do it in a happy, early morning way," Doyle adds, who co-hosts Sunrise with David Koch.
"Nobody wants to be bombarded with suicide bombings in Iraq at breakfast the whole time".
Sunrise is broadcast nationally weekdays and Sundays from studios at Martin Place, Sydney.
