The government of Somalia has ordered Al Jazeera's satellite television network to stop broadcasting from the country's capital, along with two local privately owned radio stations. This is the second time that the government has ordered the media outlets off air.
Government spokesman Hussein Mohamed Muhamoud said authorities had ordered the three organizations to immediately cease their work. Failure to do so would result in their being forced to.
"They will be shut down by force if they disobey the order," Muhamoud told reporters in the country's capital of Mogadishu. "They have been ordered to cease operations because they violated the ethics of the media by misinforming about the reality in Somalia", he said.
