  • Alan Jones boned from the Today show

    June 5 2007 4:20pm (UTC+8)  -  Article by Pun

The new owners of Channel Nine have claimed their first victim; high profile radio host Alan Jones has been sacked from the Today show, and will deliver his last editorial next Friday. Jones has been a close friend of the Packer family for decades.

Jones is now the first victim of the new majority shareholders of Channel Nine, CVC Asia who purchased a further 25% of the network last week, leaving them with control of the network.

Alan Jones delivers a two-minute editorial on the Today show every morning, and has done so for more than 15 years.

The late Kerry Packer appointed Jones to the program which gave him a national platform.

Nine has made no comment, but sources say that Jones is very unhappy, but understanding of the decision.
