  • The axe falls on Nine's Catch Up

The Nine Network's daytime talk show The Catch-Up has been axed today, with the final live show airing on Friday. This came minutes after the creator of the program Mia Freedman resigned from the network, after 16 years with the company.

The Catch Up was launched in February and was set to be one of the initiatives that demonstrated Channel Nine's commitment to Australian programs when the show replaced the American soap drama The Young and the Restless.

The show had struggled attracting decent figures since it's launch, receiving lower ratings than the American soapie it replaced.

Freedman had been with PBL media for 16 years, being a high profile editor of various ACP magazines. She said the decision was made by her alone, and she wasn't pressured by the network management.
