UPDATED | WIN Corporation has today announced the resignation of Channel Nine Perth General Manager, Michael Mitchell. Mitchell will take on a new role with the WIN Group as a consultant from July 1 2007.

The announcement was quickly followed by the appointment of Ian McRae as General Manager of Channel Nine Perth.

As General Manager of WIN's Western Australia media operations, McRae will continue his current responsibilities for WIN Television and add the day to day management of Channel Nine Perth to his portfolio.

Chief Executive Officer of WIN Corporation, George Papadopoulos says McRae's media and management experience will lead both WIN and Nine forward in Western Australia's booming economy.

"Ian has been managing our vast west Australia operations for seven years and not only knows our company well but also has 29 years of media experience behind him, having previously worked at West Australian Newspapers, Channel Seven and the Ten Network before joining WIN in 2000," Papadopoulos said.

McRae said after assisting with the development of WIN in Western Australia, he is excited to be taking on the task of developing Channel Nine through fresh opportunities that will evolve as a result of the alignment.

"The amalgamation of WIN and Nine is a once-in-a lifetime opportunity. It will create synergies and opportunities for our business and provide great scope for our valued viewers and advertisers," McRae said.

"I am very much looking forward to the challenges ahead and I know that the quality staff we have will ensure the WIN-Nine combination is successful", he continued.

Ian McRae will commence his dual role Monday June 25, 2007.
