As Jessica Rowe has been appointed part time newsreader for Seven's Sydney newsroom, tensions are on the boil, especially by several aspiring newsreaders.
Ian Ross, who presents Sydney's weeknight 6pm Seven News bulletin is reportedly out of contract at the end of this year, but Seven's Director of News and Current Affairs Peter Meakin says the network will begin negotiations with Ross very soon.
Mr Meakin says Rowe has not jumped the queue for permanent weekday 6pm newsreader, although it is understood Seven CEO David Leckie is a fond fan of the former Ten and Nine personality.
Rowe aside, former Dancing star and current Seven Newsreader Chris Bath is considered the top choice for the permanent weekday position if Ross retires.
Jessica Rowe will read news part time for Seven, and appear on the next season of Seven's Dancing With The Stars.

All japery aside, though, I shudder to think of what would happen if, during a Seven News broadcast, she was in the situation that Sandra Sully was in on Ten News late last night. That is, being so amused by something the sports anchor says that she struggles with a weather report.
Because if it WAS Jessica in that situation, she'd laugh for 10 minutes without stopping, and Seven would have to pull the plug.
