John Westacott has been announced as the new director of news and current affairs at Channel Nine. Westacott has been with the network for 15 years, his previous position as executive producer for 60 Minutes.
"Nine has a great pool of talented journalists, editors and crews, and I look forward to working with them to provide the best news and current affairs programs, particularly in this election year." Westacott said in a statement.
Previous director of news and current affairs Garry Linnell resigned last week, stating that he didn't have full support of the company, leaving him with the decision to leave the network.
In another shock decision on Friday night, long time TV veteran Ray Martin also left the network.
