  • John Westacott named as new Nine News Chief

    John Westacott has been announced as the new director of news and current affairs at Channel Nine. Westacott has been with the network for 15 years, his previous position as executive producer for 60 Minutes.

    "Nine has a great pool of talented journalists, editors and crews, and I look forward to working with them to provide the best news and current affairs programs, particularly in this election year." Westacott said in a statement.

    Exactly right aamsflc.

    Next question, who gets the 60 Minutes gig? The former Sunday producer (during the golden years) Stephen Rice would seem a favourite.

    Although as this page shows, there are few quality candidates; Click me, c'mon do it.

    Howard Sacre looks a good bet. Anyone that gets the 60 Minutes journos to ask the tough questions and gets rid of this 'soft' nonsense like we saw with Dr. Haneef and the celebrity puff pieces has my support.
