The Seven Network has apologised to the AFL and leagues players, saying they value the co-operation they receive from them, and they sincerely regret any damage which has been caused by the recent controversy with a report aired about alleged drug taking within a Victorian club.
The network has now agreed not to publish or re-publish the names of the players, or the club involved in a controversial report based on stolen medical records.
It comes as the network's Melbourne office was raided by Police to investigate reports that the medical records were stolen. A man and woman were arrested following the investigation.
Many AFL players were disgusted with the networks decision to air the story, silently protesting against the network refusing the comment to any Seven Network reporters, or on any of Seven’s coverage of matches.
The statement issued by the network also mentioned that AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou was pleased with the decision, and he hoped the partnership between the network and the league will continue to work strongly together.
