    UPDATED | FIRST ON AM | A Seven News Reporter has been crash tackled to the ground, and punched and kicked by up to five men outside Olympic Park Stadium in Melbourne during a Live cross on Brisbane's 7 News tonight.

    The assault happened live on air at 6.20 this evening, when rugby fans tackled sport reporter Ben Davis while he was speaking with sport presenter Pat Welsh.

    It headlined the 7news Melbourne updates with Jennifer Keyte this evening. At both 7.30 and 8.30

    Oh I agree. It sounds parochial (Australia is very parochial) but Brisbanians have disdain for everyone south of them so this will not help Melbourne's image any. Despite VIC having Australia's lowest crime rate.

    It sure wasn't very smart attacking someone who is standing in front of a television camera which was obviously going to record the incident. Goes to show just how stupid some people really are! ;)

    Obviously from the camera footage they'll be identified and arrested.

    The cross was the third of three crosses.

    During the first 2 crosses, the reporter was harrassed by a few people behind him. One in particular was persistant.

    No probs.

    I've got the first 2 crosses on my Toppy. I can cut it to .rec and maybe convert it to DVD format if you like. Don't really have the capability to convert it to .wmv or.avi.

    The recording cut out just before the 3rd cross (sport wasn't the reason I recorded the news).

    I can certainly feel for the reporter as I was bashed in an unprovoked attack on a Gold Coast bus early on Saturday morning. I wouldn't wish my broken nose on anyone.

    He just looks like a dickhead. Hope he is severely punished for it, maybe some jail time.
