After 40 years in the media industry, 27 of those as a weatherman, National Nine News Adelaide meteorologist Keith Martyn will bow out from Television, saying that it's time to slow down, and that "It's more time for the family now."
Martyn said he'll miss his nightly weather reports, but said it was time he was closer to his family. He and his wife will move to Victoria to be closer to their daughter who runs a restaurant and lodge in Falls Creek.
"It's been a wonderful journey, but I feel now it's about spending some time with the family, the grandchildren and being around them more." He said.
Martyn made his first television debut on the ABC in 1965, a stint that lasted five years. Soon after, he landed a job at The Advertiser Country Edition.
He started to present the weather in 1980, joining ADS7 (Now Channel Ten). 16 years later in 1996, he joined Channel Nine, also presenting on radio 5AD and 5DN as a breakfast shift announcer.
Martyn has been highly regarded as South Australia's most popular weatherman, with locals trusting Martyn for almost 30 years when he reassures South Australians that 'it's a day to hang the washing out'.
