  • George Grljusich diagnosed with lung cancer

    Veteran WA sport broadcaster and former WAFL player George Grljusich has been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer. The shock announcement comes just a day after the death of former West Coast Eagles star and media personality Chris Mainwaring.

    It has been revealed today that Grljusich, who has been with Perth radio station 6PR for the past 11 years, will not be returning to the station.

    I knew something was up with George last week when he was 'sick' and took some time off - very unlike him.

    George may have annoyed a lot of people with his controversial style of broadcasting and his more than blunt comments, but he is a well respected media and sports personality in Perth and this is just terrible news.

    I wish George all the best and I hope he makes the most of his time left. He has said he wants to spend as much time as possible with his family, and I hope he gets to do just that.

    Very sad news indeed.

    I believe he was. Apparently a big smoker in his earlier years, but I'm not sure.
