  • WIN Television announces an eight day electronic program guide

    November 9 2007 8:38am (UTC+8)  -  Article by Kevin

WIN Television has become the first free-to-air broadcaster in Australia to offer viewers an extensive and free-of-charge Electronic Program Guide (EPG).

Updated every four hours, WIN's EPG is available 24-hours a day and contains up to eight days of program information.

With either a set-top box (STB) or digital integrated television, viewers can take advantage of WIN's EPG to view program details such as the program name, a description of the show, the time and date the program will air and a classification.

The EPG combined with a suitably capable STB or integrated receiver also gives viewers the ability to set a reminder to tune into their favourite WIN program up to eight days ahead.

"WIN has always been at the forefront of the digital revolution as the first regional broadcaster on air with a high-definition channel", Rod Hockey, General Manager of the WIN Network said.

"Attracting viewers to digital television is something we are dedicated to, and our EPG is another way WIN is adding extra value for our audience".

I wonder if this will extend to the Aurora platform?

The official word from WIN is no - not at this stage.

Is there any EPG to begin with on the Aurora platform?

Yes, but it is only used by some of the channels and even then it contains limited information.

That's right, for WIN on Aurora it always just says "WIN service available" on the on-screen EPG.
