ORIGINAL ARTICLE | Western Australia is set to lose yet another high profile media personality, with ABC News Western Australia presenter Alicia Gorey announcing she has quit.
The popular newsreader is moving back to Melbourne to work as a reporter for National Nine News.
"It's sad and it has been an emotional morning. I've been here for five and a half years", Gorey told reporters yesterday.
"My parents are over in Melbourne, so it'll be good to be back with my family".
A passionate St Kilda fan, Gorey joked that she "can't handle watching the Saints lose at Subiaco any more. That's the real reason I'm leaving".
ABC boss Kim Jordan says that no decision has been made on who will replace Gorey on the ABC's 7pm news bulletin.
Possible replacements include current weekend presenter Craig Smart, and reporter and fill in presenter Frances Bell.
"Alicia has been a tremendous front person for us. We will be considering all our options." he said.
Gorey will continue presenting ABC News for the next six weeks.
